Religious, practise meditation – to consider their place in the grand scheme of things. Athletes, tune in and focus – to cut themselves off from all forms of negativity and doubt. Acedemics, search for information – then soak it in like a sponge. Artists, free themselves from reality – in the hope of rising above normality. Scientists, constantly delve into the workings of the universe – in order to determine how it works.
MOHOmers pull on their masks of equanimity – ready themselves for all agents of frustration likely to be encountered on any given day’s travel.
Day 1 – The quickest way up and into Bonnie Scotland is going to be by motorway. Thankfully, today’s uneventful journey ends at Kingsbury Water Park as planned. A Caravan & Camping Club site, just north-east of Birmingham. A few hundred yards from Aston Villa’s plush training facility in Bodymoor Heath Lane. How times have changed from the ’60s when many an end to a training session, was concluded on uneven hard-standing with a fifteen aside – playground style.
Day 2 – The MOHO state of mind kicks in. Massive hold ups and slow moving traffic on the M6, coupled with periods of torrential rain slow today’s afternoon miles to walking pace at times. Culminates in a road closure and diversion just when tonight’s site was in spitting distance. It’s 18.40pm by the time Beasties edges onto the lush green grass at North Dykes Farm, on the outskirts of Penrith.

Earlier, the M6 snail’s pace crawl generates a spontaneous decision to break the journey with a two hour stop off at the 725 acre Trentham Gardens Estate. A welcome frustration freeing walk around the one mile long lake.

3 times 😩
Hi Bri , tried : times to send you a comment about Kilts but your moderator threw me out every time. strict or what ??? Didn’t even use swear words or any obscenities. Weird 🙄 Glad to see the trip is going well & my kin are looking after you 😃👍🏴
Hi Bri, third attempt , the moderator has rejected my post twice …. With reference to your comment about Scots wearing kilts in the cold , I was thinking that I could have lent you one of mine to allow you try it first hand 😆 You & MA could have gone Roamin ‘ in the Gloamin ‘ 😃🏴👍 btw … looks like the moderator didn’t like my comments about what Scotsmen wear under their kilts. 😂😂😂 Glad to hear my fellow Scots are looking after you both .
Hi Bri, thought I’d sent this post this morning 🙄…… You have mentioned about wearing the kilt when it is cold in Scotland…. If we’d thought about it I could have lent you one of my kilts & you & Mrs S could have gone Roamin’ in the Gloamin’ in the kilt ( with or without underwear 🤔) to see what it was like 😀👍🏴🥶 . Love the video of Beastie on his travels 1200 plus kms up & the same pn the way back. Continue to enjoy & love to MA x
Morning Bri, reference your comment about wearing a kilt in the changeable Scottish weather….. if we’d thought about it you could have borrowed one of my kilts and you & MA could have gone Roamin’ in the Gloamin’ ( with or without suitable underwear 😂😂) to test it out 🤔🏴👍
Hi Bri, Rabbie Burns , as much as he is classed as a Scottish treasure , we never read any of his literature at school growing up in the 60’s. Amazing how dour the Scottish buildings look on a dreich day. Stay safe & safe journey. Ian.
Interesting Ian. We tried reading some of his writings and couldn’t understand a word! Maybe that had something to do with it. It was like a foreign language. 🙂
Sleekit, cowering, timorous , beastie …. Your turn to guess… which animal is Rabbie describing 🤔
Off the top of my head – a mouse ?
Hi Brian / Mary-Ann,
Glad to hear from you, your Penrith camp site does look a bit sparse, but onwards and upwards as the Spartans would say, Dave and Sue,
XX
Cheers Dave & Sue – weather so far OK, but changing tomorrow 🙁 xx
Correct Mr S , top of the class ✔️ I think it is in one of his poems .
No surprise there Ian – I cheated. One of his books in the museum we went to was open at that very poem !!!! 🙂
