It’s unlikely that 2 Cheeses will venture north of the border in Beastie again. So we’re hopscotch-ing our way around, visiting as many places as possible.
Today we hop into Aberdeen and in particular its famous 15thC Old Town. An ancient village of cobbled streets that link its Cathedral of St Machar’s, Aberdeen University Campus and a mix of grand houses and eateries.
Seaton Park’s car park just about caters for Beasties larger than average backside. It’s conveniently positioned a fifteen minute walk from Old Town.
One of the cathedral’s ‘claim to fame’ arises from the fact that after William Wallace was executed in 1305, his body was cut up and sent to different corners of the country to warn other dissenters. His left quarter ended up here, buried in the walls of the cathedral.
The Powis Gates, built in 1834 by John Leslie – using wealth he derived from the government of the day’s slavery compensation scheme.
Along with many American tourists we take a look around ornate King’s College and its chapel.
At one point while Mr S is busying himself taking photos, Mrs S engages with a local stranger. Or rather, becomes a sitting duck for this Gaelic speaking woman.
